How to change an email password

Introduction

Sometimes it is necessary to change an email password for an email account in your hosting service. This could be that you don't remember the password or you wish to update it to a more secure password. When creating passwords on our server they need to meet a minimum security score. This means that you can not create insecure passwords for your services and helps to protect your accounts from unwanted or malicious usage.

To change the password for an existing email account follow the steps below.

1. Log in to your hosting account
You first need to login to your account by clicking the Login button in the top right of this page. This control panel gives you access to manage all of your hosting services, email accounts, billing, contact details and support requests. If you do not know your password you can reset it by clicking the Forgot Password link on the login page.

2. Locate your hosting account
Once you have logged into your account you are taken to the client dashboard. This is an overview of the services, domains, invoices and support tickets you have with us. To find your hosting account click the Services button on the main navigation bar and then select My Services. A full list of your hosting services are displayed in a table. Select the hosting account which is attached to the domain you want to create the email account under.

3. Manage the email accounts
Once you are inside a hosting services control panel you can see inside the Quick Shortcuts box a link to Email Accounts. Click this link and you will be taken inside your hosting control panel to the area required to edit your email account. This will open in a new tab in your browser.

4. Locate the Email Accounts area in cPanel
Once you are inside the hosting control panel (cPanel) you can manage all aspects of your hosting account. In particular you need to locate the Email Accounts section in the Email block. Click on Email Accounts to begin managing your email accounts.

5. Update Password
Once you are inside the Email Accounts area you will see that it's broken into two sections, Add Email Account and Email Accounts. Scroll down to Email accounts. This shows a full list of the email accounts that are currently setup in your hosting account. Locate the email address you wish to change the password, click Change Password, enter a new password. You will see the password strength indicator bar showing if your desired password meets the criteria. When the bar turns green you have a sufficiently secure password. Click Change password to complete the process.

Once the passwor has been updated any devices setup as POP, IMAP or SMTP accounts will require the new password to be entered on those devices to continue using that email account on those devices.
